The Flying Carpet von Nobile is a must for every kite school. It's longer than the shortest kite instructor from Funboard Center Boracay and guarantees every kite student a save boardstart and the first floating ride experiences. All advanced kiteboarders go kiteboarding when the others are still waiting for the wind. Unmatched upwind performance, perfect grip and easy maneuvering benefits with a pleasant ride. It also makes the Flying Carpet easier and more fun to ride than any other kiteboard of it's size.

Lords of the wind: A new Speed Windsurfing Record has been set

Submitted by Simone on Thu, 11/29/2012 - 14:42

Windsurfers ahead: Antoine Albeau, the French windurfing speed master, has almost reached the classic mark of 100km/h ( 53,99knots) over a 500m course and has set a new Speed Windsurfing Record of 96,39 km/h on the 9th day of the 2012 Luderitz Speed Challenge in Namibia. He has now three more days to reach the barrier.

On the 3rd of December the competition gets even more exciting as the kiteboarders will take over. It’s not only about to break the world records, but to see if the kiteboarders will left the windsurfers behind.... Only 6.56 knots separate the two most exciting sailors.

Windsurfing versus Kiteboarding

Windsurfing at Bulabog Beach is a small effort, but a big smile for Karin.Bulabog beach 2003 with only a few kiteboarders, but more windsurfers.

Two month vaction ahead in Asia which also includes 5 weeks of windsurfing at Simone's Funboard Center Boracay in the Philippines. I met Simone many years ago in Greece where I used to have a windsurfschool. As we both are passionate windsurfers we stayed in touch over the years and met on different spots just to get a good ride together.

You could call me a "soul windsurfer" and I was always arguing that kite boarding is nothing for me: no time, too much fun windsurfing, to lazy starting all over again....

So with not much of an interest I was looking at all the kitesurfers at Bulabog Beach while I was happily carving my jibes and tacks in the sparkling blue water. However with a lot more interest I observed Simone and was definately impressed how easy she seemed to steer her kite over the water. There was so much lightness, power and elegance to see. Not bad, I was thinking, but then forgot again...
... but there was also this guy called Fritz: Every morning I am looking at his huge smile - that almost goes from one ear to the other - when he gets off the water after his morning kite session. Pure delight, enthusiasm and fun!

And there I was sitting on the beach with blisters on my hands and realised that I am starting to get a little bit jealous. And I was suddenly remembering the old times when I was struggeling and swearing on Maui and then finally managed my first jibe and I also remeberd this overwhelming feeling of happiness!

Probably this was the moment when I registered for a kiteboarding class, which will be starting tomorrow. Whatever will be coming, tonight after two encouraging mango daiquiries, I am looking forward to a new experience and a little bit of flying away.... Karin

Valhalla-Cup: Boracay’s kiteboarder have organised a weekly funrace for all kiteboarders at Bulabog Beach

Submitted by Simone on Fri, 11/16/2012 - 15:03

Kite students and kite instructores are joining Boracay's fun race.

Kiteboarders are waiting at the starting line for the signal.

Bright sunshine, palmtrees along the beach, warm water and 18-20 knots have been perfect conditions at the last kitesurfing funrace at Bulabog Beach in Boracay and united all kiteschools of different nationalities on the water. Chris, the founder of this weekly funrace, is a local kiteboarder of Boracay and runs the legendary Valhalla-Bistro. Intermediate and professional kiteborder as well as kite instructors and local riders, who have made kiteboarding to their passion, racing against each other. Great idea, Chris!

Sad news for kitesurfing on Boracay

Submitted by Simone on Mon, 11/12/2012 - 06:17

One of the best entertainment and viewy sports in the world as kitesurfing has been removed from the Olympic programme for Rio 2016. This is a huge disappointment for all the kitesurfers worldwide who have been training hard since it was announced last May that kitesurfing was going to take part in the Olympic games. What a shame too for all the windsurfers who spent the last year training to compete in kitesurfing. Boracay Island has also support local kiteboarders to make their biggest dream reality. A bitter blow for everybody involved...

Just a cold comfort: :Windsurfing has reclaimed its place in the Olympics, after the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) voted to reinstate it. But there should be room for both sports in the Olympics.

Even with less than 60 kilo he is the most feared opponent due to his impressive technique and experiences in windsurfing.

2012 RS: One World Windsurfing Championship 10th to 15th December in Boracay

The Philippines Windsurfing Association and NeilPryde, the RS One Class will be turning a dream into reality with the first RS:One World Championships to be held on Boracay, Philippines, from 10th to the 15th of December. Bulabog Beach, known as the mecca for windsurfing and kiteboarding in Asia, prides itself of playing all kinds of non-motorized watersports activities, particularly when the northeasterly winds or "Amihan" are blowing. The features of Bulabog Beach are perfect for windsurfing and kiteboarding because of the flat water, on/side shore winds, shallow and reef protected lagoon. The water temperature expected in December is 28° C and air temperature will be around 30ºC. Just perfect!
